Milton Glaser's "I Love NY" Logo



BBDO has refreshed the legendary Milton Glaser "I Love NY" logo in a new tourism campaign promoting the city. Replacing the heart symbol are hand-drawn images of a beach ball, a pizza slice, and a ferryboat, to name a few.

I'd have preferred to see the execution simply leave a fill-in-the-blank line in place of the heart, ball, pizza slice or whatever, and let people write in what they like about New York. Take a cue from the old American Express campaign and get famous New Yorkers to write in what it is they love about NY.

Funny to see people can 'fill in' the thing they like to do in NY. Nice idea. People can get 'creative' and all that... But: I 'Pizza' New York? What's up with that... I <3 NY works fine with me.
